Hope does not disappoint, this is the title of our novena prayer booklet.  This novena is part of the vision of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, who since 2024 opened the Jubilee Year with a particular tone, inviting the faithful of the world to pray for the world by working for peace and charity.  In this world prone to violence, wars between nations, division and separation of families and multi-sectoral crises that believers face, they should not feel alone or discouraged.  Instead, they should rely on the grace and mercy of the Lord knowing that He is there hope at all times.  Hence the Pope resorted to the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans 5:5, which says hope does not disappoint.

In this sense that, conscious of his pastoral task, Pope Francis says:  Everyone knows what it is to hope.  In the heart of each person, hope dwells as the desire and expectation of good things to come, despite our not knowing what the future may bring.  Even so, uncertainty about the future may at times rise to conflicting feelings, ranging from confident trust to apprehensiveness, from severity to anxiety, from firm conviction to hesitation and doubt.  Often we come across people who are discouraged, pessimistic and cynical about the future, as if nothing could possibly bring them happiness.  For all of us, may the Jubilee be an opportunity to be renewed in hope.  God’s word helps us find reasons for that hope.  Taking it as our guide, let us return to the message that the Apostle Paul wished to communicate to the Christians of Rome (cfr_Bull of Indiction of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025,1)

Responding to the Pope’s call we, in turn, subscribe to his logic, by publishing this Novena of prayer.  Our aim is to build the Faith of the faithful by accompanying them on this pilgrimage of hope.  This novena can be used at any time, in a group, as a family or individually, to implore divine intervention in our lives.  We must always have at heart that the Lord is with us and He accompanies us on life’s journey.  When we cry out to Him, He comes to our aid, He responds by blessing us.  This is how we must appropriate the words of St Paul:  Hope Does not Deceive.
