was originally presented as a series of lectures for the 1987 Catholic Theological Winter School. Johnson’s discussion of christology shows how it is far healthier for the followers of Jesus to be discussing who Jesus is, how he challenged the conventions of his time, and whether the salvation he brought is open to all, than to be content with a picture of him that provokes little interest and hence no questions. Besides drawing us into the vexing question of where we find God in both Jesus’ and our own sufferings, she brings out how both feminist and liberation theology are enriched by a truer grasp of Jesus’ own life and activities.
